Terms of use
Draft, last updated October 2, 2026 · not yet reviewed by a lawyer
These terms are the rules for using globaldreamjournal.com. "We" means Global Dream Journal, operated by Charles Johnson. By creating an account or buying something here, you agree to them. Please also read the Privacy notice.
1. Who can use the site
Anyone can record a dream without an account. Accounts are for people 18 or older. Buying art, messaging and commenting also need the one-time 18+ verification. Please give true details (your legal name and date of birth must match your state ID) and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
2. Your dreams and your words
- You own your dreams and the words you write. Your dreams are private unless you choose to share them.
- When you sign up you give Global Dream Journal permission to display your submitted prompts and the pictures made from them on the site and in curated publications (such as a possible print book), credited to your dream name, as described in the signup box. [Draft note for review: confirm whether this covers private dreams or only shared ones.]
- Don't post anything illegal, hateful, harassing, sexual content involving minors, other people's private information, or anything you don't have the right to share. We may remove content or close accounts that break these rules.
3. Readings and pictures made with AI are not advice
Dream readings ("What it may mean", "How to apply it") and dream pictures may be written or painted by software, including AI from OpenAI. They are for reflection and creativity only. They are not medical, psychological, legal, financial or spiritual advice, and they don't predict the future. If a dream troubles you, please talk to someone you trust or a qualified professional. AI can make mistakes or produce unexpected pictures; you can tell us with "This interpretation missed the mark".
4. Respect for dream traditions
The site describes how many cultures have understood dreams, including Native American nations. That knowledge belongs to the peoples it comes from. Readings in those traditions draw only on published, documented themes, name the nation each comes from, and never describe or offer ceremonies or symbol meanings. Please use them respectfully: don't present them as speaking for any nation, and don't use the site to sell or imitate sacred practices.
5. Membership: $5 a month
- Writing, cataloguing and sharing dreams are free. The optional membership costs $5 per month (plus any sales tax shown at checkout) and adds member features such as messaging, commenting, AI readings and more painted pictures per dream, within fair monthly limits shown in your account. Recording dreams, the globe, the research pages and your full catalog (search, symbols and download) are always free.
- It is billed monthly through Stripe and renews automatically each month until you cancel. There is no yearly plan.
- Cancel anytime in Account settings → "Manage membership". You keep member features until the end of the month you have paid for, and you are not charged again. We don't give partial refunds for unused days unless the law requires it. [Draft note for review: confirm refund policy.]
- We may change the price with advance notice; a new price only applies from your next billing month after the notice.
- Free memberships the admin grants work the same way but are never charged.
- Artist access: artists don't need a membership to list or sell. An artist's first completed sale through the site checkout (paid, and not fully refunded) unlocks every member feature for that artist, permanently and at no charge. Before their first sale, artists can buy the membership if they want messaging and comments sooner. Owner test listings don't count as sales. We may change how artist access works in the future (for example, asking artists to pay the membership like everyone else); that would only apply after notice and would not affect what you already paid for.
6. The Artist Market
- Artists list their own original works and set their own prices. Artists confirm they own the rights to the works and images they list.
- Buying through the site checkout: payment is taken by Stripe (card, including Apple Pay and Google Pay) into Global Dream Journal's account. Global Dream Journal keeps a flat 10% fee and pays the artist the rest. Example: a $1,000 sale pays the artist $900. Payouts to artists are made by Charles Johnson [Draft note: add how and when artists are paid, e.g. within N days after delivery].
- Sales tax is calculated at checkout where required. Shipping details and delivery are arranged with the artist [Draft note: add returns, damage and shipping policy].
- Commissions and direct contact: when a collector contacts an artist directly or sends a commission request, any deal is between them. The site charges no automatic fee on those deals and is not a party to them.
- If a work sells twice at the same moment, the second buyer is refunded in full.
7. Things we can't promise
We work hard to keep the site running and your dreams safe, but the site is provided "as is". We can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Global Dream Journal and Charles Johnson are not liable for indirect losses, or for more than the amount you paid us in the last 12 months. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that can't be limited.
8. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Account settings (see Privacy). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we do, you can still ask for a copy of your dreams.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and we will tell members on the site about important changes. Questions: dreams@globaldreamjournal.com or the contact page.
